skaylanphear:

*that moment when you realize part of the reason Lance’s arc is so long in coming is because Keith’s arc had to be out of the way first. Because–while Lance was the one to question Keith’s leadership and keep him on his toes in the 80s–Keith was the one that kept Lance in line and protected him from himself when Lance would dive toward self-destructive tendencies and dangerous, rash behavior. Which means that Keith has to be stable–not like he was at the beginning of the new Voltron–in order to be able to properly deal with that kind of behavior from Lance, behavior which will most likely be developed in the new Voltron via a tragedy in Lance’s personal arc. Keith was the one that pulled him from the wreckage, after all, and via the character development we’ve seen in the new Voltron, Keith is going to be the one able to most relate to Lance’s experiences, only where Keith’s arc took him from emotionally unstable to stable due to reuniting with his family, Lance’s will go from stable to unstable as a result of the opposite. Because Lance and Keith are foils and mirror each other*

I’m not crying, you’re crying.
